Dr. Herman Brooks
Herman Brooks – Singer/Songwriter, Producer, Minister & Psychiatrist
Herman Brooks has been making music all his life. As he says, “I can’t not do it.” Called by Spirit to record music he plays rhythm guitar, lead guitar, keyboards, and writes songs. As an ordained minister in the metaphysical tradition of Religious Science, Herman brings clarity of spirit to his gospel tinged songs.
Inspired by the philosophy of Rasta and One Love, he has endeavored to include its Spirit and philosophy in his music. His latest work, the Reggae album, One Love, Jah Love was done by the group he produced called Unity Posse. It is the culmination of years of songwriting and recording and has received good reviews. It is now being offered and is available on CD Baby, iTunes, Amazon and his website rajjahzproductions.com. In addition, he has a previous work, a rhythm and rock album called The Gift consisting of 13 original songs and a cover of the Otis Redding song, Any Ole Way. It has been well received and he wishes to share the compositions with listeners.
Dr Brooks received his MD from Howard University in 1978 and went on to complete a residency in psychiatry at Sepulveda V.A. Medical Center in San Fernando Valley, California. During the time he was in practice, he maintained a keen interest in spirituality and personal growth. It eventually led him to seek community and teachings from various organizations such as Unitarian Universalists, Transcendental Meditation, and Unity School of Christianity. Eventually he discovered Religious Science and began to attend Agape International Spiritual Center where Rev. Dr. Michael Beckwith is the senior minister. Inspired by his teachings, he began to pursue a path of studies and classes which led to his becoming a Spiritual Practitioner and eventually an ordained minister of Religious Science.
He has written a book entitled Making It Through The Dark Night Of The Soul in which he incorporates the spiritual and psychological knowledge he has gained over the years in hopes that those who read it will gain the tools they need to overcome personal challenges and transform and grow in the process. It is available through Publish America, Amazon, and through contacting Dr. Brooks through his website.
It is Dr. Brooks’ wish that all who choose to receive his offering, whether musical or literal, benefit significantly. In his music he wants to bring joy and inspiration. And in his writing he wants to bring knowledge and transformation.
One Love,
Rev. Dr. Herman Brooks
